Our one-year cooperation with “Bari Mama” NGO was effective. Zaruhi Batoyan visited “Bari Tnak”
The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of RA Zaruhi Batoyan and Deputy Minister Zhanna Andreasyan visited “Bari Tnak” inclusive center of “Bari Mama” NGO. This was reported by the department of public relations of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs of RA.
The Minister was introduced with the works carried out in the center, current programs, discussed the prospects of cooperation.
The Founder and President of ”Bari Mama” NGO Marine Adulyan represented the center’s achievements, mentioning the importance of ensuring the right to live in families for children with disabilities and other health issues and our mission to contribute to the reunion of bereaved children with their biological parents.
Zaruhi Batoyan underlined the importance of the work done during the past year within the framework of the memorandum signed between the Ministries of Health, Labor and Social Affairs of RA and “Bari Mama” NGO on the prevention of child abandonment problems due to disability, and singled out some of them:
“During this year, a mechanism has been developed to work with pregnant women at risk of having a child with a health problem, and a hotline has been set up, especially for pregnant women who need psychological support. In Yerevan and Marzes of Shirak, Armavir, Kotayk, several events were organized, a campaign was launched to break the stereotypes about disability and the rapid response group of ”Bari Mama” NGO was trained and recruited. In addition, a network of mutual support of parents having children with health problems or disabilities has been established, a mechanism of mutual support has been developed between ”Bari Tnak” inclusive center-shelter, maternity hospitals, hospitals, as well as other NGOs and institutions, a 1-2 weekly project of psychological support has been developed for mothers having children with disabilities, workshops have been organized in order to understand the main issues and reasons of child abandonment to prevent them”; says the minister and informs that they are planning trainings for the staff of medical institutions of Shirak, Armavir, Kotayq Marzes and Erevan on the topic of prevention of child abandonment and finesses of how to inform the parents about health issues of their children.
The Minister noted that the UN Children’s Development Fund has also joined the initiative to make some of these goals a reality.
It should be noted that “Bari Tnak” functions as a therapy center and a shelter for mothers and children with disabilities and other health issues.
