Success story from our ”Bari kar”
Do you recognize the woman in the picture? Of course, you can’t recognize her; she has her back to you facing away. She is 45-year-old Marine and she is from Araqel Village of Hadrut Region. We simply couldn’t look straight into her eyes and say;
-Smile, we are going to take your photo.
Her eyes were wet, the face was sad and the soul was disturbed. Maybe, instead of Marine, everyone would feel that way. The war was ruthless towards her and her family. Marine had gone through many wars, but this one was different, this one was rough, insidious and memorable. She lost her home, livelihood, her village and her homeland. Somehow escaping from the clutches of the enemy, Marine’s family was able to escape travelling through a number of villages and reach Armenia.
With the help and support of a lot of kind and open-hearted people Marine’s family was able to find a refuge in Dzoraghbyur Village of Kotayq Marz where they live at the moment. Marine’s son is Slavik. He is 10 years old, and after leaving his native village, he became more self-contained and taciturn. To provide him with psychological support, Dzoraghbyur municipality offered the boy to attend ”Bari tnak” where he would spend days full of different interests and hobbies.
Living in Armenia Marine and her family faced a number of hardships; they had no job to provide their needs. At that time our ”Bari kar” project had already been launched which supported Artsakh women displaced from their homes and left without their husbands and replaced in Kotayq Marz.
When taking Slavik to ”Bari tnak” Marine learnt about the project and expressed a desire to participate in those courses.
Marine, who worked as an administrative assistant in Araqel Village for many years and never sewed in her live, could master sewing skills in a very short time within ”Bari kar” project. Now she has a new profession and can find a job and take care of their needs.
Due to ”Bari kar” project, one day Marine will definitely turn to us with a happy and bright smile on her face confidently facing the challenges of the future. The unwavering will and ability typical to Artsakh people will help her overcome any obstacle that seems impossible in this life.
